April 27 - 28 - Annual MHS Mulch Fundraiser
As the weather warms up, it’s time to get outside and get your yards ready for the summer. Our annual Mulch Fundraiser will be on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28 from 8am-4pm. We will be selling bags out of Sawvell's lot, at the corner of 176 and 60 (Across the street from Crossroads and Walgreens). Bags are $4 each. Yes, we are a little bit more expensive (only about 50 cents after taxes) per bag than that big orange store down the street. You're going to get a better product though, and you're supporting a local Mundelein business and MHS. Now for the best part, no need to get dirty, we will deliver and spread it for you! Email me (don’t reply all), if you would like to place an order.
Not sure if you want to order ahead of time, that’s ok. Since we are using Sawvell’s lot, we should always have what you need available. Feel free to also just drive by and pick up what you need on the day of. I have attached our flier with more info.
If it's not too much trouble I would love for you to help us get the word out. Please share our flier on your neighborhood Facebook groups and any other social media platforms. Please reach out if you have any questions. Thanks for your support.

The Welcome Center is in need of donations to continue assisting those members of our community that are in need. With the fallout from some of our families being displaced recently by inclement weather, those donations are even more important today. We welcome donations of non-perishable food items, personal hygiene items, soaps, detergents and clothing. To help assist those families in need, we are also accepting gift card donations. Law Panelists Inspire and Encourage Future Legal Eagles
On Thursday, April 25, MHS hosted two panels for the students in our three law-based courses--Business Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, taught by teachers Michelle Sherwin-Petrucci, Nicole Malham, and Michele Bonadies, respectively. Approximately 120 students heard stories of law school experiences, courtroom triumphs, and critical career decisions from a panel of nine lawyers and one police officer.
The panelists shared valuable career advice. “Law school only taught me how to read a case,” shared estate attorney Sharanya Gujurajan. “I had to use my critical thinking skills, follow my instincts, and learn from my peers about the practice of law”.
Gujurajan also commented about the strong sense of community found among lawyer circles. “You’re going to meet a lot of people, so strong interpersonal skills are necessary”.
“It’s the best feeling when someone chooses me to represent them,” she added. “It gives me a chance to do what I love best--practice law in order to help people in need”.
Special thanks to our list of panelists for taking the time to share their stories with our students: Dimitra Anderson, Andres Cerritos, Maria Diakoumakis, Sharanya Gujurajan, Eric Kalata, Kate McKeon, Elliot Pinsel, Elin Shoback, Donald Tyer, and School Resource Officer JT Schuldt. Because of you, careers were shaped and lives were changed!

Coaches Corner - Boys Track

Last Friday we successfully defended our title at the Round Lake Blue Thunder Invitational. We had a number of meet champions on the night. Izic Miller won the 800, with Alberto Diaz winning the 1600. We also had wins in the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relay.
In the Field Events we had wins in the Shot Put (William Vilchynskyy), High Jump (Julian Eagar), and Pole Vault (Nico Osorio).
Decent weather Monday night led to a number of PRs for our guys. While we lost to both Stevenson and Lake Forest, the scores were closer than expected.
Maddux Hermestroff PR'd in the 100m, taking 5th overall in 12.33. Julian Eagar won the 200 in 23.97, with Izic Miller taking 3rd in the 400 with a PR of 55.25.
Alberto Diaz won the 1600 with a time of 4:45.06. Ben Segura took 3rd in the 110 hurdles despite a stumble near the end. The 4 x 400 relay took 2nd, with Ethan Connelly running the fastest split on the day of 53.5.
The highlight on the track belonged to the 4 x 800 relay of Alberto Diaz, Nathan McCreight, Andrew Weaver, and Izic Miller. The foursome won in our fastest time of the season by far, 8:32. Nathan McCreight sizzled in his leg, running a huge PR of 2:07.
In the Field Events William Vilchynskyy stole the show with PRs in both throws. Will took 3rd in the Shot Put with a throw of 13.69. Will came back in the discus to take 2nd with a PR of 136'9". Holden McFall had a 12 foot PR in the discus, throwing 102'1". First time over 100'!
Maddux Hermestroff took 2nd in the High Jump with a leap of 5'8". Ethan Connelly and Drew Patrick went 1-2 in the Triple Jump. Great job guys!
Next up we have a JV meet tomorrow at Antioch, a chance for some of our athletes to shine who don't ordinarily get the chance. On Saturday we compete in the granddaddy of meets, the Palatine Relays. This meet has been going on for over 90 years, and is unique in its design, as all the events are scored as relays, with each athlete's performance in an event added together. A great meet to watch. If you can make it out, you won't be disappointed.
Until then, It's A Great Day To Be A Mustang!
